Centraal Laat ‣ Raghoul x MOḌA

PAST EVENT

An inspiring evening filled with music, workshops, and connection at the Centraal Museum.

For this Centraal Laat, the Moroccan-Dutch label raghoul transforms the Centraal Museum’s Tuinzaal into the Maghreb you don’t get to see on holiday with your parents or TripAdvisor. Upstairs, in the immersive audiovisual installation D.K.E.K.: Disconnected Kids Exploring Kingdoms, the Moroccan artist Dosei invites us into his universe as a politically engaged fashion designer. Downstairs, we’ll discuss the important link between fashion and activism with Isabeau Vienerius and have musical performances by 3xOJ and Salim Akki, ZINEB, and gbw9. During this night, you’ll have access to a carefully curated Swi9a, where you can get your hands on a wide range of exclusive pieces for every budget made by artists and designers with an activist approach. This event is for everyone who relates to not relating, for the curious, for the Moroccans, and their allies. From the world to Casablanca, back to the world.

Will you be at the last Centraal Laat of this year? On 6 December, raghoul is programming an evening dedicated to music and the underground culture of Morocco, in and around the exhibition MOḌA.

Raghoul

Raghoul is a non-hierarchal multi-disciplinary label exploring bass-rooted cultures. The Moroccan duo 3xOJ and gbw9 founded the label in 2022, which aligns with a shift away from the hyper fixation on Europe as the worldwide gatekeeper of music and art. Instead, it celebrates the next generation of artists within their proper context as artists from the Global Majority. Raghoul invites anyone who desires to venture into the limits of audiovisual experiences and experiment with their artistic practices.

Dosei

Dosei is a multidisciplinary art collective and an independent clothing brand from Morocco that investigates the idea of clothing as a method of protection, not only from cold or extreme heat but from mass surveillance systems, too. In their first collection, Off the Grid, Dosei explored how one can protect our privacy through streetwear, starting a wearable countermovement that grew in popularity in the underground Moroccan electronic music and rap scene.

3xOJ x Salim Akki

A live collaboration that brings together Salim Akki's drumming and 3xOJ’s electronic production, blending Moroccan sonorities with modern electronic textures. Their performances merge traditional percussion with digital soundscapes, exploring the fusion of local and contemporary sounds.

gbw9

gbw9 is a Casablanca-based DJ and producer. Their sound ranges from ambient experimental soundscapes to Rotterdam-rooted Gabber, oftentimes passing by deconstructed club and bass-heavy music, all the while centring the Global Majority. Most recently, the artist has expanded their work to sound experimentation, using their voice, writing, and sampling as instruments in sound collages that tell stories that reflect the times.

ZINEB

Zineb mixes a spicy blend of North African and West Asian rhythms, Deep House, Rai, and Amapiano. As a Dutch-born DJ with Amazigh heritage, she brings cultural influences to her music, crafting a unique sound that captivates. Her journey as an artist has been about celebrating her roots while exploring new musical territories.

Isabeau Vienerius

Isabeau Vienerius is a creative professional with a degree in Communication & Multimedia Design. Since 2019, she has worked in the cultural field as a program maker and producer on projects in music, nightlife, art, fashion, community, and activism.
