<span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">In 1920, Lady Carla de Jonge procured her first pieces for </span><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">Centraal Museum’s collection: two dresses from around 1878, </span><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">including this outfit. The dresses came from her own family</span><br><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">and were donated by de Jonge and her sister Lady Wilhelmina </span><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">Aricie Caroline de Jonge (1885-1959). During her time at </span><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">the museum, de Jonge added over two hundred garments</span><br><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">to the costume collection. From 1941 to 1951, de Jonge was </span><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">Centraal Museum’s first female director and one of the first in </span><span style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size:medium;">the Netherlands.
