Public transport passengers can take bus 2 from Utrecht Central Station towards the Museum Quarter. Get off at the ‘Centraal Museum’ stop. From there, it is about a 100-metre walk to the museum entrance. There are tactile paving strips along the pavement and several lowered kerbs leading towards the entrance.
The bus stop has no seating. There is a bench across the street, and outdoor seating is available next to the museum.
You can also take the train to Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn station. From there, it is about an 800-metre walk to the museum.

Coming by bike? Park your bike in the racks next to the entrance. You can charge your e-bike at the charging point to the right of the entrance to Museum Café Centraal.
The museum does not have its own parking facilities. Our entrance is about an 800-metre walk from the Vaartsche Rijn and Springweg car parks.
In Utrecht, people with a disabled parking permit can always park for free.
There are three disabled parking spaces at Nicolaaskerkhof, next to the museum. Parking here is free with a European disabled parking permit. A parking ticket is required for all other parking spaces.

Are you picking someone up or dropping someone off? You can safely drop off and pick up visitors close to the entrance. Address: Nicolaaskerkhof 8, 3512 XC Utrecht.
Other parking options:
- Nicolaaskerkhof car park: located next to the museum, 50 metres away. Paid parking; please note that it is often full.
- Lange Nieuwstraat ParkBee parking garage, paid parking, 450 metres
- Vaartsche Rijn parking garage: approximately 900 metres from the museum entrance, paid parking.
- Springweg parking garage: distance to museum entrance: approx. 900 metres, paid parking.
Your visit
- The Centraal Museum has a special route for wheelchair and stroller users. Ask about it at the ticket desk or download the route (PDF) before your visit.
- Almost all areas are accessible by lift, ramp or step-free route. Only the mezzanine floors in the Stables can be reached by stairs. The lift has a door opening 90 cm wide and is 160 cm deep and 140 cm wide. There is a ramp at the entrance.
- Stairs in the building are fitted with contrasting markings and a handrail.
- Some doors may be difficult for wheelchair and walker users to open. It may therefore be helpful to bring someone with you during your visit.
- There are two wheelchair-accessible toilets: one near the cloakroom and one near the Stables. The toilet near the cloakroom measures 200 x 230 cm and has a doorway 100 cm wide.
- All staircases within the building are fitted with at least one handrail
- Lockers (112 x 105 x 70 cm) are available for visitors who use a large mobility aid and wish to store it temporarily during their visit.
- Do you find it difficult to visit the museum on your own? You can bring a companion free of charge. Companion tickets can be booked online or purchased at the museum ticket desk.
- Certified assistance dogs are welcome, provided they wear a harness and have an assistance dog ID card.
- You can visit the museum using a mobility scooter, provided it is no more than 120 cm long, 70 cm wide and 109 cm high.
- To ensure a pleasant and safe visit for everyone and to assess whether the mobility scooter can move around the museum safely, we may ask you about its speed and your ability to operate it.
- In exceptional circumstances, for example when the museum is very busy, our security staff may decide that a mobility scooter cannot be used safely inside the museum. We will then work with you to see whether you can visit the museum in another way or at another time.
- The museum has wheelchairs and a walker available to borrow. Reserve one in advance by emailing info@centraalmuseum.nl. The museum also has several lightweight folding stools available if you prefer not to stand for too long.
- EnChroma glasses are available for visitors with red-green colour blindness. These glasses help visitors with certain forms of colour blindness (Protan and Deutan) perceive colours in artworks more clearly. The glasses enhance colours, creating richer colour contrast and allowing visitors to experience more nuance.
You can borrow the glasses from the desk in the museum shop. Would you like to reserve a pair? Email info@centraalmuseum.nl. Please indicate which type of colour blindness you need the glasses for. As the glasses are valuable, we require a €100 deposit when lending them out. Take an online test to determine which type of glasses you need.
Programme and facilities
NGT Collection Centre Video Tour
A free video tour in Dutch Sign Language (NGT), with Dutch subtitles, is available for our permanent exhibition Collectie Centraal. You can easily follow the video tour on your own phone. Simply scan the QR code on the screen in the first gallery or go to mediaguide.centraalmuseum.nl. Select Dutch Sign Language as your preferred language using the ‘change language’ button.

Multisensory tours
Every two months, the museum organises a multisensory tour for blind and visually impaired visitors. Each tour has its own theme. Dates, times and programme details can be found in our events calendar.

Unforgettable Central
During this guided tour for people with dementia and their loved ones, we will look at several works of art together and discuss them with one another. By sharing stories, memories, associations and ideas, we bring the artworks to life together. Enjoying art is at the heart of the experience.
Utrecht Museum Day
Together with care provider AxionContinu and other museums in Utrecht, we organise various programmes to offer older people living in care facilities and their loved ones a cultural experience.
This led to the development of the following programmes: Friday Museum Day, Museum for a Day, Museum at Home and Museum for Makers.
